  Individual therapy

Benefits of individual therapy may include:

Acceptance – Therapy can help develop a sense of self-acceptance as well as greater acceptance towards things that cannot be changed. It’s common for distress to increase when we are focused on changing things that we don’t have the power to change. Moving towards radical acceptance both decreases suffering and illuminates opportunities to change things within our control.

Coping strategies – A large focus of individual therapy is dedicated to learning and implementing new coping strategies. These tools are what facilitate and maintain behavior change to create healthier patterns.

Insight – A vital part of therapy is learning more about yourself, your needs, boundaries, and triggers. Therapy will help you develop a deeper awareness and understanding of yourself as well as new ways to meet your needs.

Mindfulness – Mindfulness is an umbrella term that simply means focusing on the present moment, without judgement. Mindfulness can help bring awareness to your thoughts and body sensations, which is a building block to creating significant change.    Moving away from worry about the past or future also helps increase feelings of happiness and contentment.

Self-compassion – Developing self-compassion is incredibly difficult and rewarding. Through therapy and mindfulness techniques self-compassion decreases negative self-talk and criticism while increasing feelings of kindness and comfort. Using self-compassionate statements also helps with building psychological resilience.

Relationships – Interpersonal connection is an important aspect in mental wellness. Relationship turmoil can be a main source for distress and emotional dissatisfaction.  Our sessions will help you clearly identify relationship issues and implement effective solutions. Therapy can help you build loving and respectful relationships.
